Besides Claire Schlobohm, the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference Gymnast of the Year, Oconomowoc was fairly young last season. Schlobohm graduated in 2016 after winning three WLT meet events and the all-around competition, but many experienced gymnasts return for the Raccoons in 2016-17.

Mady Rice, a 2015 state qualifier on beam, returns for her junior season after just missing out as a sophomore on vault.

"The biggest motivation for her is she didn't make it last year," Oconomowoc coach Jon Kopps said. "That really hurt her knowing she didn't make it, and it really pushes her to make sure she makes it this year."

Fellow junior Erinn Fagan, who placed third at the WLT meet on vault, missed significant time last season due to injuries.

"I think they both have tremendous potential," Kopps said. "I think both of them can step up and do great things this year."

Senior co-captain Danielle Hoeffel should be a significant part of Oconomowoc's lineup.

"She was showing very well on bars, and then she broke her arm last year," Kopps said. "She ended her season abruptly. She's back and it's healed. She should be looking pretty good this year."

Hailey Weber is also a senior co-captain for OHS. Sophomore Carli Christman has varsity experience as well.

"I think we're strong vaulters, but it's also a strong scoring event than some of the others," Kopps said. "I think we have a strong beam team this year, but it's harder to get high scores on beam compared to vault."

Kopps expects to do well on floor, but bars should be the team's weakest event.

Also in the gymnastics program are seniors Michelle Anderson, Abbie Chaput, Cassidy Conmy, Katie Kalinka, Michelle Kolb, Lily Meske, Vivienne Schlomer, Emma White; juniors Sadie Lewis, Makenna Meunier, Jensen Smith, Savannah Waller; sophomores Mackenna Balsewicz, Olivia Coffield, Nicole Jahr, Makenna Konkol, Alaina Nowak, Carlee Pekrul, Hannah Sims; freshmen Elsa Bray, Madeline Chudy, Alisha Kehl.

Lydia Sobal and Jennifer Sunder-Bratz will serve as assistant coaches. Becca Kopps will be a volunteer for the team.
