California's Ivan Rabb, left, looks to shoot past Utah's Lorenzo Bonam (15) on Feb. 2, 2017.

The Grizzlies acquired the 35th overall pick from the Orlando Magic during Thursday’s NBA draft and selected power forward/center Ivan Rabb.

Memphis entered the draft without a pick but became active in the second round. The Grizzlies also picked up the 45th overall selection to acquire 6-7 forward Dillon Brooks from the University of Oregon.

Rabb, 6-10, played at the University of California last season. The selection calls into question the Grizzlies’ intentions regarding restricted free agent forward JaMychal Green and unrestricted big man Zach Randolph.

Free agency beings July 1.

Rabb is a mobile front-court player who plays well in transition and in pick-and-roll sets as a rim runner. He was a strong rebounder in college after recording 19 double-digit rebounding games this past season. He averaged 12.8 rebounds per 40 minutes.

Rabb’s lack of strength and skill on the perimeter are considered weaknesses.
