No. 10 Wisconsin made a major statement in dismantling No. 8 Michigan State on Saturday in a clash between two top-10 squads, shaking up the early Big Ten race in the process.

Outside of the Spartans, other top-10 teams — those being No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Clemson, No. 4 Louisville, No. 5 Michigan, No. 6 Stanford, No. 7 Houston and No. 9 Washington  — came away victorious in Week 4. The top-10 teams closest to coughing up losses were the Cardinal, which edged UCLA, and the Huskies, who barely escaped Arizona in overtime.

In other early top-25 matchups, No. 21 Ole Miss dealt No. 11 Georgia its first loss of the season in embarrassing fashion. In the SEC, No. 12 Tennessee beat No. 16 Florida for the first time since 2004, and No. 13 Texas A&M outdueled No. 18 Arkansas. Auburn staged an upset of sorts by clipping No. 17 LSU on a controversial ending.

Wisconsin Badgers running back Corey Clement (6) scores a touchdown against Michigan State Spartans linebacker Chris Frey (23) during the first quarter of a game at Spartan Stadium.

College football's Week 4 winners and losers

Here's a look at the rest of the results around the country:

No. 1 Alabama (4-0) obliterated Kent State (1-3), 48-0.

The top-ranked Crimson Tide pounded Kent State in their final tune-up before SEC play. Alabama took a 41-0 lead into halftime and didn't look back. Running back Joshua Jacobs, seeing more snaps with Damien Harris suffering a leg injury, rushed for 86 yards and two scores in the first half. He averaged 10.8 yards per carry.

► No. 3 Clemson (4-0) defeated Georgia Tech (3-1), 26-7. (Thursday)

Clemson bolted to a 23-point halftime lead and eased past Georgia Tech, snapping a five-game losing streak against the Yellow Jackets at Bobby Dodd Stadium. The victory was the 19th consecutive regular-season victory and set up an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown against Louisville on Oct. 1 at Clemson.

Louisville wins big; Next up: Clemson

► No. 4 Louisville (4-0) drubbed Marshall (1-2), 59-38.

Heisman Trophy front-runner Lamar Jackson continued to produce eye-popping numbers in easy win against Marshall. The super sophomore had 479 yards of total offense and accounted for seven touchdowns bringing his season total to 25 touchdowns after first four games. After a fairly slow start with just one touchdown in the first quarter Jackson finished the game with 417 passing yards with five touchdowns and 12 carries for 62 yards and two rushing scores.

► No. 5 Michigan (4-0) ran over Penn State (2-2), 49-10.

De'Veon Smith ran for 112 yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries to lead the Wolverines to their fourth consecutive lopsided home win to start the season, this time dispatching Penn State in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Next up for Michigan is a showdown with unbeaten Wisconsin next Saturday at Michigan Stadium in what assuredly will be a matchup of top-10 teams. Smith wasn't the only running back that stood out for the Wolverines who rushed for a season-high 327 yards and saw five different running backs score touchdowns.

► No. 6 Stanford (3-0) clipped UCLA (2-2), 16-13.

Stanford quarterback Ryan Burns completed an 8-yard touchdown pass to receiver J.J. Arcega-Whiteside with 24 seconds left to give the Cardinal a close win against UCLA. Prior to that drive Burns and fellow quarterback Keller Chryst were held to only 77 yards passing. Rosen completed 18 of 27 pass attempts for 248 yards with one touchdown pass and no interceptions. UCLA's rushing game was held to only 77 yards. Stanford's Heisman candidate, Christian McCaffrey, rushed for 138 yards.

No. 6 Stanford rallies past UCLA 22-13

► No. 7 Houston (4-0) blasted Texas State (1-2), 64-3.

Greg Ward Jr. passed for 289 yards and two touchdowns in just over a half of play and freshman D'Eriq King accounted for three touchdowns -- receiving passing and on a 99-yard kickoff return -- as Houston roared past Texas State. Ward was 20-of-26 passing and had 39 yards on the ground and another score while guiding the Cougars.

► No. 9 Washington (3-0) survived Arizona (2-1), 35-28.

The Huskies pulled away in an overtime thriller. Washington quarterback Jake Browning finished with 160 yards in the air, while running back Lavon Coleman had 157 rushing yards to pace the offensive attack

► No. 10 Wisconsin (4-0) took down No. 8 Michigan State (2-1), 30-6.

Redshirt freshman Alex Hornibrook passed for 195 yards and a touchdown in his first start and safety Leo Musso scored on a 66-yard fumble return as Wisconsin surprised Michigan State at Spartan Stadium. Corey Clement who missed the Georgia State game with an ankle injury rushed for 54 yards on 23 carries and scored twice for the Badgers.

No. 10 Wisconsin crushes No. 8 Michigan State 30-6

► No. 21 Ole Miss (3-1) embarrassed No. 11 Georgia (3-1), 45-14.

Domination pure and simple. Mississippi's convincing win against Georgia certainly qualified as that. The Rebels piled up 509 yards of offense, mostly courtesy of quarterback Chad Kelly who completed 18 of 24 passes for 282 yards and two touchdowns.

►  No. 12 Tennessee (4-0) pulled away from No. 16 Florida (3-1), 38-28.

Tennessee ended its 11-year losing streak against Florida in emphatic fashion. Josh Dobbs threw for four second-half touchdowns as the Volunteers erased a 21-0 first-half deficit. Booed off the field at halftime with the Gators leading 21-3 Tennessee, flipped the script behind Dobbs whose passing has come under criticism during his career. Dobbs, who finished with 319 yards passing and 80 on the ground, led them to their long-awaited win over their fiercest SEC East rival.

► No. 13 Texas A&M (4-0) defeated No. 18 Arkansas (3-1), 45-24.

No. 12 Tennessee pulls away from No. 16 Florida

► No. 14 Florida State (3-1) handled South Florida (3-1), 55-35.

Dalvin Cook rushed for a career-high 267 yards and two touchdowns to lead Florida State to a 20-point win against South Florida. Cook, who had just 228 yards and two touchdowns through the first three games of the season, looked like the Heisman Trophy contender he was expected to be before the start of the season.

Florida State's Dalvin Cook re-emerges in Heisman race with 267-yard outing

► No. 15 Baylor (4-0) defeated Oklahoma State (2-2), 35-24.

Baylor quarterback Seth Russell served notice that the Bears' passing game is as potent as ever. Russell threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns to propel Baylor to victory. When Oklahoma State tied the game at 21 early in the third quarter on Rennie Childs' 3-yard touchdown run it took Russell and the Bears less than a minute to answer. Russell responded by throwing deep to wide receiver Chris Platt for an 89-yard touchdown to give Baylor the lead for good.

► Auburn (2-2) upset No. 17 LSU (2-2), 18-13, in a controversial ending.

For a moment it appeared that the Tigers had stunned Auburn on a touchdown pass as time expired. But the score was nullified after the play was reviewed and it was determined the ball was not snapped before the time expired giving Auburn a most improbable 18-13 victory. LSU running back Leonard Fournette rushed for 101 yards on 16 carries.

► No. 20 Nebraska (4-0) beat Northwestern (1-3), 24-13.

Quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. threw for one touchdown and set up two others as the Cornhuskers opened Big Ten play with a win against Northwestern. Nebraska had its lowest point production of the season but still piled up 556 yards to the Wildcats' 388. Armstrong was 18-of-29 for 246 yards and also rushed 13 times for a game-high 132 yards.

► No. 21 TCU (3-1) hammered Southern Methodist (2-2), 33-3. (Friday)

Junior quarterback Kenny Hill passed for 452 yards and two touchdowns as TCU registered a an easy victory in Dallas. Junior receiver John Diarse had six catches for 139 yards and one touchdown for the Horned Frogs.

► No. 23 Utah (4-0) edge USC (1-3), 31-27. (Friday)

Troy Williams threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns -- including an 18-yard toss to Tim Patrick with 16 seconds left -- to rally Utah to a narrow victory. The Utes needed to convert a pair of fourth downs on their final 15-play 93-yard drive to set up Patrick's go-ahead touchdown. Zack Moss converted the latter by running for 5 yards on a fourth-and-1 play from the USC 23 with 45 seconds left. The touchdown pass came on the next play.

► No. 25 Iowa (3-1) barely edged Rutgers (2-2), 14-7.

Akrum Wadley scored on a 26-yard run in the fourth quarter and Iowa's defense came up with two big fourth-down stops to lift the Hawkeyes to much-needed victory in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Iowa bounced back after last week's home loss to FCS kingpin North Dakota State.
