Heisman Survey: Constant shuffling behind Lamar Jackson

Two constants so far in the USA TODAY Network Heisman Trophy survey: Lamar Jackson holds a wide lead, and the shuffling below him continues.

Louisville Cardinals quarterback Lamar Jackson (8) throws a pass against the Duke Blue Devils during the second half at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. Louisville defeated Duke 24-14.

Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett, who led the No. 2 Buckeyes to an overtime victory at No. 10 Wisconsin on Saturday, jumped from fourth in last week’s survey to second. Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson dropped from second to third after the No. 3 Tigers needed a missed field goal and overtime to defeat unranked N.C. State at home.

Jake Browning, quarterback of No. 5 Washington, was off last week but dropped from third to fourth because of Barrett’s move.

Browning still leads the nation in passing efficiency at 204.9. Barrett is 10th, Jackson 13th and Watson tied for 37th.

Jackson leads the nation with 15 rushing touchdowns, is second in total offense at 439.7 yards a game and third in rushing at 138.7. He has been first each week of the survey of writers and editors with Heisman votes who work for properties owned by Gannett, parent company of USA TODAY.
