Replay in high school? Not what you think (but not far off)

Green Bay Southwest senior Gavin White (52) reviews a play with an assistant coach during an Aug. 26 game against Pulaski at Dahlin Family Stadium.

Andrew Pekarek of the Green Bay Press Gazette has an interesting story about digital capabilities on the sideline, noting schools can use flat-screen televisions and replay services to show in-game film on the sideline. Technology in this area has accelerated at all levels (with tablets used pretty universally in the NFL), and the high-school game is starting to see advancements (for those districts that can afford it).

Pekarek mentions Hudl, which is a service that enables the ingestion of game film and dividing it into highlight segments that can be distributed to the appropriate coaches and players. It's a pretty slick service (and also enables outlets like us to get our hands on some big plays and put them on our web site).

Other links of intrigue

In a sea of great games to open the 2016 season, few teams are living closer to the edge than Port Washington, which has seen all three battles come down to the wire.

A coach in Utah suspended his entire football team of 80 players over incident of cyber bullying and other acts of disrespect. To regain eligibility in time for Friday's game, players had to complete acts of community service.

In California, a high-school football team paid tribute to a cheerleader stricken with leukemia in a unique and touching way.
