Oconomowoc's Zach Clayton was given the "Al Toon Award" honoring the state's best wide receiver, and Hawk Wimmer of Franklin was honored with the "Tim Krumrie Award" for best defensive lineman when Wissports.net released its annual awards Wednesday.

Several other players from the area were finalists for the award at their respective positions, including Ben Nienhuis of Oconomowoc (QB), Tyler Beach of Port Washington (OL), Matt Henningsen of Menomonee Falls (OL), Jacob Powell of Arrowhead (DL), Blaze Beltran of Pewaukee (DL), Noah Harvey of Arrowhead (LB), Austin Mozdzen of Germantown (LB) and Eric Fridl of Catholic Memorial (K).

Despite Clayton's excellence in football, he's sticking to his baseball commitment at Oregon State, as Evan Frank wrote last week.
